Radio Communication guidelines

  1. Ensure that the set, antenna and the cables are secured firmly and do not foul with door frames etc.
  2. Switch on Radio and ensure the set has powered up.
  3. Check channel assigned to you and ensure radio is on that channel.
  4. All radios on each channel can operate only one at a time.
  5. Press the PTT (Press to talk) button, pause and then speak.
  6. DO NOT attempt to transmit when communication is already taking place.
  7. Speak slowly and clearly, keeping the mike slightly to the side of the face rather than     directly in front.
  8. Keep all communication short.
  9. At the end of your message say “OVER” to inform the other person that your communication is finished, and then release the PTT button.
  10. In case of static, move vehicle to another position, away from a building or trees onto higher ground if possible.
  11. Even if communication is not clear, do not interrupt. Wait for end of transmission and ask for “REPEAT”.
  12. At the end of communication state “OUT” to indicate end of communication.
  13. Whenever transmitting first clearly state your Name/ Designation and location followed     by  the Name/Designation of the called person.
