Leg Two : Storm ’13

The second leg of Storm covers yet more new territory that has never been visited by participants.

Xtreme:
The rally goes South west to Jaisalmer for night halt.

But first we head North of Bikaner, like last year, for a totally new and fast sandy section. The recce team loved driving through this never ending section. It is fast and flowing with crests and dips to catch the unwary crew. Surrounded by inviting dunes and sand spurs that the recce team had fun climbing. For next year perhaps these would also be part of the route. For now enjoy this section.

The first section of the day ends right next to the Indira Gandhi Canal. Then the rally runs south and westwards along this engineering marvel to start of second section of the day. All in all a lovely transport run.

Second section of the day needs to be attempted with zeal and zest. Dune climbs and more can be the apt description. But the start of section belies the fact and looks extremely friendly and easy. Then the sandy country side appears. Then dunes. Even tough we cut out some of the extreme sand climbs we still are having trouble working out the extrication logistics of this section. It is sure going to be long day for officials.

Again we come back to the canal and a pleasure drive after the section takes you to night halt at Jaisalme. A long day it will be and many competitors may be doing the transport link at night.

Xplore:
The day is an easy day. Just the normal run from one town to the other connected by superb National Highway #15. But do we do it that way?

No. Do we use the National Highway? Hardly. Do we keep it complicated?

You bet.

A bit of rough roads early in the morning is cure for the warmth and friendship between the driver and navigator. We expect the air inside the cockpit turning blue due to some spirited exchanges between the occupants as they try to correctly navigate through rough roads and back lanes.

Only thing that we promise is that competition will not last the whole day and you will get to enjoy a pleasurable drive along the Indira Gandhi Canal. You may even get glimpse of some Xtreme action as they come in for their second section of the day.

Remember that mobile connectivity in the area is poor and at times you would experience signal drops.
